Prof. Yulia Sandamirskaya leads the The Research Group for Neuromorphic Computing at ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences. The project builds advanced neural-network algorithms, software tools, and integrated systems designed to run on computing chips that process information in ways inspired by the human brain. The group's research focuses on perception, motion planning, and motor control for robots, with a focus on healthcare, elderly care, and similar human-facing applications. By placing users at the center of the design process, the team aims to create physical AI systems that use minimal power, respond flexibly to new situations, and remain safe around people.
