Maria Milisavljević, born in Arnsberg in Germany, studied English cultural studies, English literature, and art history. Her doctoral thesis investigates playwright-centered theater at London’s Royal Court Theatre. From 2011 to 2015, she worked as an assistant director and dramaturg at the Tarragon Theatre in Toronto, where she has been International Playwright-in-Residence since 2013. Maria won the Kleist Prize for Young Playwrights with her play «Brandung», the Autorenpreis des Heidelberger Stückemarktes and the Else Lasker-Schüler-Stückepreis with «Beben» and the Mülheimer Dramatikpreis for «Staubfrau». In addition to her work as an author, Maria works as a translator. She lives in Berlin.
