Helmut Grabner is Professor of Computer Vision and Machine Learning at the ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences School of Engineering, where he heads the Visual Intelligence and Applications Group. His research explores the question of what makes an image visually interesting – combining computer vision with questions of aesthetics, attention, and human perception. Before joining ZHAW, he was a Post-Doctoral Researcher at ETH Zurich's Computer Vision Laboratory and co-founded the AI startup upicto. His foundational work in object tracking received the Koenderink Test of Time Award at the ECCV European Computer Vision Association 2018.
